American Bankers Association BankPAC

What is ABA BankPAC?
ABA BankPac is the Political Action Committee of the American Bankers Association. Its purpose is to raise funds from member bank employees, officers and directors to support candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
Why does ABA BankPAC need my Support?
During the 109th Congress, ABA will be working with Congress to protect the product and service authorities of Gramm-Leach-Bililey, promote comprehensive FDIC reform and oppose unfair credit union expansion. All of these issues have a direct impact on the way our banks - our livelihood - conduct business. ABA will be deeply involved in all of these important legislative bills.
In addition, ABA will work with Congress to address the deteriorating agriculture situation, broaden banks' ability to elect Subchapter 5 tax status and further reduce banks's regulatory burdens. We'll advocate bankers' views on these issues and work to gain Congressional support for other ABA priorities.
What do I need to do?
ABA BankPAC needs your signature on the attached authorization card to conduct a fundraiser among your bank officers, directors and eligible employees. To eliminate having to fill out an authorization card on a yearly basis, you may authorizes a solicitation campaign within your bank over the next four years by placing your signature next to the year(s) you wish to designate your approval.
When will the campaign take
place in my bank?
After ABA BankPAC receives your signed authorization card, you will receive a kit of solicitation materials to use in conducting the campaign. ABA BankPAC will not contact your employees directly.
How will my employees, directors and officers benefit from participating in ABA BankPAC?
ABA BankPAC pools the contributions from your bank campaign with those of other bankers to strengthen the impact of our industry's message to candidates. ABA BankPAC's strength is in its numbers - the thousands of bank employees whose contributions have made ABA BankPAC the largest political committee to represent the commercial banking industry.
